About Green Supreme Dwarf Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris)

Dwarf beans (also known as 'French Beans' or 'Round Beans') are a compact vegetable that grows on a small bush.  The Green Supreme dwarf is a productive green bean variety that produces crisp, dark green, stringless pods about 16 cm long.

Dwarf Beans are ideal for small gardens as they don't need staking (unlike runner beans).  They can even be grown in a pot on the balcony. They are great for beginner gardeners.

Culinary Uses of Green Dwarf Beans

The humble green bean is versatile ingredient in the kitchen that can be used in European, Mediterranean, South East Asian and Asian cuisine alike. Try them in a Nicoise Salad, sautéed with a little garlic and olive olive oil, or as part of a stir fry.

Growing Conditions - Green Supreme Dwarf Beans

These easy going plants adapt to most soil types but prefer slightly acidic.  They love the sun and can tolerate a little wind, but don't like frost.   When the plants are in flower (or have beans on them) water regularly, especially in dry spells.

Cabbage, Cauliflower and Carrots are good companions for Green Supreme Beans, but avoid planting Onions, Garlic or Beetroot nearby.

    • Spacing: 30 cm apart
    • Sowing depth: 5 cm

    • Germination: 7 - 10 days
