What are Crystal Apple Cucumbers (Cucumis sativus)?
Cucumbers are found in so many types of garden and a range of international cuisines from European and Mediterranean to middle eastern. This variety produces a squat round Cucumber that is lovely in salads or on sandwiches. It has a white-light yellow skin and crisp white centre.
These plants can be grown in a courtyard or a large pot but require something to grow up as they have a creeping growth habit. They have green foliage and yellow flowers.
Culinary Uses for Crystal Apple Cucumbers
This Cucumber can be eaten with its skin on. Try them raw in an apple, cucumber and walnut salad, or blend with apple juice, lemon juice and basil for a refreshing drink.

Growing Conditions - Apple Cucumbers
Cucumbers are an easy care plant that likes rich, free draining soil, lots of sun and lots of water. Prepare your soil with compost and Morganics fertiliser before planting.
This is a good crop to grow in the spot your winter Brassicas occupied in the garden. While you shouldn't plant Cucumbers near Sage or Potatoes, there are a host of good companion plants, including: Marigolds, Carrots, Radish, Dill, Onions, Garlic and Sunflowers.
Cucumbers are best grown in a sheltered spot that is out of the wind and safe from snap frosts.
